How do I increase a person's or site's File Drop quota?

As explained in What are quotas and upload limits? users may request additional storage space in either Resources or File Drop. For Resources, see How do I increase a site's Resources quota?

Log in as admin.

Log in as an admin (e.g., psg3a-admin).

Go to Administration Workspace.

Access the site.

  1. Go to the Worksite Setup tool.
  2. In the Search box, enter the title of the site, then press Enter or Return on your keyboard, or select Search.
  3. Select the link to the site to navigate to it.

Go to File Drop.

Select File Drop from the Tool Menu in the site.

Enable the custom quota.

You can enable a custom quota for a specific site participant (e.g., one student in a course site needs their File Drop quota increased) or for all users (e.g., an instructor wants every student in the site to have a quota greater than 1 GB per person). Skip to the steps for enabling a custom quota for all users.

Enable a custom quota for one user only.

Edit Details on the user's folder.

  1. Select the Actions menu for the requesting user's folder.
  2. Select Edit Details.

Enter the new quota.

  1. Select the Special quota checkbox.
  2. In the box provided, enter the new quota in Kilobytes (binary). For quick reference, here is a list of custom File Drop quotas we've enabled for users within the past few years:
    • 2 GB = 2097152 KB
    • 4 GB = 4294967 KB

Note: To find the appropriate value for a different number of GB, do a Google search for "GB to KB binary".  

Select Update.

Enable a custom quota for all users in the site.

Edit Details on the main File Drop folder.

  1. Select the Actions menu for the main File Drop folder.  The folder's name should be [site title] File Drop, e.g., in a site named 19Su ALL the tools!, the main folder is 19Su ALL the tools! File Drop.
  2. Select Edit Details.

Enter the new quota.

  1. Select the Special quota checkbox.
  2. In the box provided, enter the new quota in Kilobytes (binary). For quick reference, here is a list of custom File Drop quotas we've enabled for users within the past few years:
    • 2 GB = 2097152 KB
    • 4 GB = 4294967 KB
